As rescue efforts continue in Mexico following the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck on Tuesday, we’re learning of the many acts of heroism taking place throughout the country. The earthquake’s epicenter hit near the state of Puebla. It destroyed buildings, cracked streets and brought devastation. Now, Frida – a 7-year-old Labrador retriever – is hard at work finding people under the rubble. The canine rescue worker has found more than 50 people – 12 of them alive – including several during the last earthquake that took place earlier in the month, according to Quartz.
Frida, who wears protective booties and goggles, is part of a military unit. She was at the scene of the Enrique Rébsamen school, which collapsed and killed at least 20 children. As she works tirelessly, she’s won the hearts of people across the world. Check out Univision’s short video about her below:
She’s not the only dog rescuing victims of the earthquake. Another rescue dog injured her paw locating one person.
