History in the Making

Democrats made history today by officially selecting Barack Obama as the first African American presidential nominee of a major political party.

Obama and onetime rival, Hillary Rodham Clinton, were both nominated, which paved the way for the traditional roll call of states and delegations.

Clinton made a huge statement by interrupting the roll call and asking that Obama be nominated by acclamation, which started a wave of cheers and the ever-popular Cesar Chavez-inspired chant, "Yes we can!"

Obama will accept the nomination in a ceremony being held at the DNC later tonight.

It gives me chills to think the U.S. may have its first person of color in the White House and faith in living to see the first Latina president.
