Who: Alexis Mata is a Mexico City based artist who manipulates photos to create eerie and moody new images. His unique use of collages, illustrations, paintings and various installations have led him to solo exhibits all over Mexico City ,and his appeal is spreading, with recent shows in NYC, Barcelona and London.
Why You Should Follow Him: Because his work has so many facets, that it will keep you looking back again and again. I love the dichotomy of re-constructing classic images, such as vintage portraits and war photos, with modern splashes of colors, interesting textures and unexpected geometric shapes.
