Lin-Manuel Miranda is just as well known for his musical prowess as for his nice-guy personality. As a matter of fact, when he realized that the majority of people waiting for lottery tickets to Hamilton would go home disappointed, he began serenading waiting crowds with his “Ham 4 Ham” pre-show performances, so that they didn’t go home empty handed. And even as Miranda has fought for the island of Puerto Rico in the past, Miranda has kept his cool. On Saturday, President Donald Trump finally broke him. After San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz begged for help on Friday and directly asked Trump to assign someone up to the task of saving lives in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, the president took to Twitter to attack her and the people of Puerto Rico.

“Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help,” he tweeted. “They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.”

Images of children clearing streets and of Cruz wading in waist-deep water to help her fellow Puerto Ricans quickly made their way through Twitter. But Miranda, like many others, was absolutely angered, and he couldn’t hold his tongue any longer.

His comments didn’t go unnoticed.
