Okay, so the name of the tour is kinda weird, but the lineup is dope.

MTV Tr3s presents Monte Negro, Astra Heights, and The May Fire on a tour of the West and Midwest for six weeks in August and September.

Both The May Fire and Monte Negro have albums coming out on August 5—May’s The List (self-released) and Monte’s Cicatrix (Epic Records)—so expect to hear new flavor for your ears at these upcoming shows on a tour kicking off August 6th in San Diego. Check them August 7 at the Knitting Factory!

Peep this May Fire Video:

Monte Negro, who embrace their roots by switching it up from English to Spanish, are Mexican American brothers Kinski and Rodax—the vocalist and bass player— They soon recruited Jason Li Shing, a Chinese-Japanese American guitarist and drummer Xavier Lopez. Their sound takes bites from Jane’s Addiction, The Cure, The Clash, and the Sex Pistols.

Astra Heights are an L.A-based band of four brothers (are you seeing the trend?) and a pretend brother who grew up in a family of 11 kids in rural Palacios, Texas. Their flavor is more Beatles Brit pop-rock and their name blends the Latin phrase ad astra (to the stars) with a Houston Heights neighborhood they liked.
