Eye Candy – Couturier Gallery

“Feliz Navidad” now plays in the radio – and probably en tu casa, tambien – along with plenty of other jingles so you know it’s the holiday season. Described as a “Holiday Group Show,” the upcoming show “Eye Candy” will feature the talents of 18 artists. The list features artists working in various mediums and includes names like Carlos Estévez, Elsa Mora and Antonio Muniz. The piece might not necessarily be Christmas-themed but it’s a great way to start the holiday season of art shows. Head to the opening reception Saturday, December 8 at 6 p.m.

L.A. Novela Special – Thank You for Coming

Lady Gaga isn’t the only one with an alter ego. Artist Cristina Victor’s got one too. As Miami, the artist explores Latino stereotypes and in her upcoming show L.A. Novela Special at Thank You for Coming, she brings that and much more. The artist’s performance piece weaves a story that includes actual dishes for visitors to taste. Check out the opening Wednesday, December 5th from 6 to 10 p.m. The installation will remain at the space until December 8.

Latino Arts and Culture Family Day

The holidays tend to bring the whole familiar together more than any other time of the year. If you’re feeling crafty, take your mama, primos, tias and more to the Autry National Center to create a Christmas tree angel made out of corn husks. There will also be a screening of “The Cisco Kid,” a family-friendly Western. Regular museum admission gets you into the event starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 9. Get crafty.
