Steve Harvey was host of tonight’s Miss Universe pageant and dropped the ball in the most awkward way possible– by announcing the wrong winner.
Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines were the final two contestants, and Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia the winner after opening the envelope. Except she was actually the first runner up. And then had the crown literally snatched off her head so it could be placed on the rightful winner, Miss Philippines.
As if that weren’t uncomfortable enough, Harvey then managed to spell the names of both countries incorrectly in his apology tweet:
Between this and Miss Puerto Rico’s awful anti-Muslim tweets (which led to her suspension), I’d say this is a good time to go ahead and cancel all beauty pageants.
