“A go-getter, a hustler- a girl that lives above 96th Street but still has Downtown dreams,” is just one of the responses to the question presented by The Peralta Project at the release of the t-shirt collaboration with Uptown Girls NYC at Dyckman Bar. Graphic artist/Uptown Renaissance Man Tony Peralta teamed up with the women’s collective, who strive to inspire “by curating the pivotal cultural movement happening right now in Uptown.” Together the Girls -founded by Emily Griggs, Julianna Joson, and Iran Ortiz– created a place to curate the up-and-coming Uptown culture through blogging, social media, and events around town.

“An Uptown Girl is a woman who knows what she wants to do and she does it.” And whether you’re an Uptown Girl or not, it’s never a bad idea to strive to be a strong, independent, rebellious and smart woman out to make a change in their community and beyond.
