In 2023, Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios Hollywood introduced the haunted house Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America. The house served as a deep dive into the monsters of Latin American folklore and was a hit among guests. Now, for Halloween Horror Nights 2024, the house returns to a new location in Universal Studios Orlando.

Halloween Horror Nights started in Universal Studios Orlando in the early ‘90s as the event Fright Nights. Since then, it’s become the largest Halloween destination and continues to set the standard for theme park scars. Having Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America is exciting and a chance for East Coast fans to experience the house.

The original house featured appearances by Latin American folk icons such as La Llorona and El Cucuy. But the house also introduced lesser-known entities such as the El Sibón, El Sibón, AKA The Whistler, La Lechuza, AKA The Owl Witch, and the vampire witch known as Tlahuelpuchi.

Currently, it seems these same three monsters will be making their way to Florida. Though Orlando’s HHN also has a history with La Llorna, it’s possible she, as well as El Cucuy, could return. However, the one thing that’s yet to be confirmed is if the Guadalajara and Guanajuato graveyard setting will be the same.

This opening isn’t the first time a haunted house has returned to the event, with An American Werewolf in London being another great example. Monstruos’ return helps prove why it’s both a stellar representation of Latin American folklore and also just a fun haunt to experience.

Mark your calendars, because Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America is set to debut with the event on August 30th and end on November 3rd. This extended run offers more than enough time to experience the resurrection of this now-iconic haunted house, a return that is eagerly anticipated by fans of Halloween Horror Nights.
