Three Hours of Jams for Your New Year’s Eve Throwdown

Art by Alan Lopez for Remezcla

New Year’s Eve is the one time every year that we can brush off our problems and reset our minds. That’s why it’s especially important to have a spot-on soundtrack to guide you through the experience, whether you spend the night turning up with friends or dancing with your drunk tía. Here at Remezcla, we want you to ensure you have the tools throw a successful function, so we compiled our annual New Year’s Eve playlist with a little extra help from some expert friends.

Plenty of singalong moments are in store, with some of the year’s most addictive pop-perreo bops, like J Balvin’s “Mi Gente,” Becky G’s “Mayores,” and Arcángel’s “Po’ Encima.” But of course, we’d be remiss not include some reggaeton del viejito, too, like Don Omar’s “Pobre Diabla,” Daddy Yankee’s Wisin y Yandel-featuring “No Me Dejes Solo,” and, yes, “El Gato Volador.”

If the floor isn’t cracked open at this point, you can sweep it clean with some salsa choke (Cali Flow Latino), merengue (Los Hermanos Rosario), bachata (Romeo Santos), and the ultimate get-out-of-your-seat track – Marc Anthony’s “Tu amor me hace bien.” Of course, trap lovers are taken care of, with tracks ranging from the romance of Maluma’s “Vitamina” to the high-octane “Krippy Kush” remix we’re all obsessed with.

Mexico’s BrunOG (whose Latin Grammy award-nominated track with Ghetto Kids is also included) challenges our salsa footwork skills by choosing Ñejo’s “Qué voy a hacer.” Kevin ADG, one half of superstar production duo Rude Boyz, picks singles from Jon Z, Sebastián Yatra, and Yandel, adding fuel to the reggaeton and trap fire. MULA represent the Dominican Republic with merengue anthems by Milly Quezada and July Mateo’s “Rasputín,” while Ecuador’s Mateo Kingman throws in a track of his own, EVHA’s “Culebra de monte.” Last but not least, Spanish producer and C.Tangana collaborator Alizzz read our minds when he recommended some of our favorites, including A.CHAL, Kali Uchis, and rising Catalan star Bad Gyal.

There’s no excuse for having a crappy New Year’s Eve. This is how you send a difficult year packing.
