One Day at a Time fans are still waiting to find out if Netflix will renew the Cuban-American sitcom for a fourth season and now actor, talk show host, and Instagram-extraordinaire Busy Philipps is giving the streaming platform a little nudge in the right direction.

On Thursday, March 7, showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett and cast members Justina Machado and Rita Moreno appeared on Philipps’ E! show, Busy Tonight. “We wanted to do our part in the fight for the fourth season, so I need you guys to come outside with me,” Philipps told the three as she led them out onto the studio lot.

There, she gifted them with the ultimate surprise: an airplane flying overhead with a banner that read, “Renew One Day At A Time! <3 Busy Tonight <3.” After the ODAAT ladies got a chance to see it for themselves, the plane headed to Netflix’s headquarters for the decision-making executives to read.

In the meantime, Rita Moreno charmed Philipps and her audience with the tale of when an excited fan hugged her too tight, causing her to accidentally pee herself – in a white gown, no less – at a State Department dinner for Kennedy Center honorees.

“I’m gonna be very gentle when I hug you from now on,” Calderon Kellett responded.

Philipps went on to give some background on her friendship with Calderon Kellett, which dates back to when they were both students at Loyola Mount University. She then turned to the camera to reiterate the message on all of our minds one last time: “Netflix executives, if you’re watching, everybody wants – and we all need – a season four.”

The sweet gesture on Philipps’ part comes in the midst of yet another social media campaign to keep One Day at a Time – a show full of well-rounded, Latino narratives we rarely get to see elsewhere – on our screens. Calderon Kellett and the entire cast have been encouraging fans to post about the series using the hashtag #renewODAAT while also spreading the word to their friends and family in order to bump up viewership numbers.

Isabella Gomez, who plays the fiery feminist Elena, tweeted on Thursday night that news regarding the show’s future might come sometime next week. Fingers crossed that Philipps’ banner got the message across, and we get to keep watching the Alvarez family navigate everything from queerness to messy family feuds for a long time to come.
