Guillermo del Toro To Take Creepy "Alma" Short To The Big Screen

Spanish director, and creepy scenes master, Guillermo del Toro (one of our faves) is working on a new project for DreamWorks Animation that will bring Rodrigo Blaas‘ hot short “Alma” to the big screen as a full-length film.

Del Toro joined DWA last month with the intention of mastering the art of animation because, as the Hollywood Reporter cited, “he believes that during the next 10 years, the entertainment landscape will shift into a transmedia world — a confluence of movies, TV, books, video and online — and artists will need to be educated in all aspects of media.” The move shifted his usual material by having him work on animated features Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss in Boots, but after seeing the Alma short, Del Toro’s shifting back to the gripping suspense and darkness we’re accustomed to seeing from him. Needless to say, we’re very excited.
