Salma Hayek has announced she is teaming up with UNICEF to aid in relief efforts in the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit Mexico Tuesday.

The Mexican actress made a donation of $100,000 to aid the country after the 7.1 earthquake hit, and has already received over $250,000 from fans and supporters via her CrowdRise page.

The earthquake has already claimed the lives of 237 people with countless more left in crumbled buildings waiting for help.

The recent devastation hits close to home for Hayek. Her uncle died in an earthquake that hit the country on the same exact date in 1985.
