If we could have a dollar every time Remezcla talks about margaritas , we’d be very rich. Rich enough to have a second home in Cancun and have someone make us fresh tequila beverages of the gods and serve it to us in our beach side cabanas. But enough of my daydreaming. We’re still here in the dead of winter but even if for one day, we can celebrate till we get that warm tequila blanket on because it’s National Margarita Day! In case you were just enlightened of this most monumental of holidays, we’ve done a quick round up of some spots where you can celebrate here in NYC:

Mercadito

Both locations in the city will be offering specialty margarita flights all day long, for only $11.50. You can enjoy tastings of the Jamaica, Little Market(pineapple, lime , chile), and Pepino El Pyu.

Nitehawk Cinema

Our neighbors at Nitehawk are getting in on the action, and serving up some screenings of Mexican films, like Exterminating Angel and El Mariachi. In the downstairs bar/cafe, they’ll have  a $5 Mexi-can (Tecate and Tequila shot deal) and one-day only menu item of $5 Margaritas on the rocks!  Once you’re getting toasty, there will be a special screening of Santa Sangre by Alejandro Jodorowsky.

Toloache

It may be worth fighting the Times Square crowd to get to Toloache on West 50th and Broadway. For Margarita Day, they will be offering $7 Herradura and Partida margaritas all day!

But if you want to warm up at home and make your own dranks, you can check out our 5 unique Cinco De Mayo margarita recipes or our recipes for Mexican Independence cocktails.(with LOTS of tequila, because what else?)
