In addition to its widely popular – and deliciously so – Hell’s Kitchen original location, Empanada Mama will mother two more Manhattan cuisine cubbies, literally. The first to open in the Lower East Side on real estate prime 189 Houston Street will be an “express version” rather than a duplicate, with room for only two tables and a simplified menu, according to rep Gustavo Curi. When we can expect this Latin immigration to Loisaida is yet to be determined, but it will definitely be before the second spot (on Chelsea’s 6th avenue), which Curi projected to be this summer. So do the math and hope for some Hispanic flavors to sprout within the first half of this ano nuevo. Keep your eyes peeled and your noses sharp; we will keep you posted with any updates.
