Fonda East Village Opens Today

Much lauded Park Slope restaurant – and provider of our awesome guacamole recipe, pictured above –  Fonda will be opening up its second location today, this time across the East River in Manhattan. The restaurant was set to open yesterday, but, well, that didn’t happen. Head over at 5PM tonight if you’re interested in checking it out, but if you’re planning on going over this weekend for the restaurant’s Mexican brunch, you’re out of luck: the schedule we received still has the restaurant opening at 5PM on the weekends, though they’re definitely staying open later on Saturdays. If you’re a fan of mezcal, it’s worth checking out; as the New York Times wrote of chef Roberto Santibañez :

He also plans to feature more mezcals at the bar. He serves only two in Brooklyn, but he thinks that his Manhattan clientele might be more interested in trying them.

No fair! Brooklynites can be booze snobs, too.
