New York Comic Con starts on Thursday, and while we’re going to be trying to will Guillermo del Toro to make his way over (his birthday falls on Comic Con and he has a new movie to promote), there are plenty of things to get excited for. Here, we have rounded up the Latino stuff that shouldn’t be missed.

1

Gina Torres

Gina Torres, frequent sci-fi contributor, will be holding autograph sessions on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

2

"We Need More Diverse Comics"

On Thursday, five speakers – including Ivan Velez – will speak about the need of diversity in comics. “While this Panel will discuss the history of diversity in comics it will also have a focus on the future of diverse comics and how the industry can welcome and develop a wide range of talent and voices,” according to the event’s description.

3

Robert Rodriguez and Gang

Robert Rodriguez and the rest of the gang on From Dusk Till Dawn will be part of a panel on Saturday. So you’ll be able to see Eiza Gonzalez and Jesse Garcia. Wilmer Valderrama will also be there for Minority Report. Meagan Goode will be there, too.

4

Gavin Aung Than

The man behind this Frida Kahlo cartoon, Gavin Aung Than, will be signing autographs on Friday. Now’s your chance to ask him all about the healing powers of Frida’s eyebrows.
