Bienvenido a Miami! So you’ve gotten off the plane, not nearly as drunk as you were when you got on, and you’re… at a loss. Time for an existential crisis: What are you doing here? The Reader’s Digest version: Art Basel is a giant group show thats 10% Art, 99% Mezcal, so you might as well stumble your way into some cute clubs and parties while you’re here. Our Miami contributors Daniela Cabrera & Victor Princiotta have carefully curated a list of events to check out this week. We’ll be updating this list, so check back!

And try not to damage any actual pieces of art.

PAMM Presents Future Brown, Dec. 4th 8:00 PM

So Fade to Mind and Saint Heron Records singer Kelela made a big announcement on Facebook that she has cancelled all her upcoming tour dates in order to work on her record. This means that all her tour dates from now until spring are cancelled. Whatever, its fine. Let her work and do her thing.  In the meantime, Dominican Princess Maluca will be down at the Perez Art Museum, along with the best DJ in the entire world, Total Freedom. He’ll be opening up for a special performance by the electronic music supergroup, Future Brown. More info here.

Bossa Nova Civic Club X Art Basel, Dec. 4th, 10:00 PM

Not to be totally New York-centric but techno bastion of Brooklyn, Bossa Nova Civic Club, is traveling down to Miami for Art Basel. Ok, I’m totally being a New Yorker, and so will everyone at this party. Bossa Nova has a penchant for mixing dark, broody vibes with otherwise tropical aesthetics, so this party couldn’t be more appropriate. DJ’s Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral of DFA Records will be there, as will Aurora Halal, and DUST. More info here.

Wilfrido Vargas and Ivan Ovalle, Dec. 5th 9:00 PM

We all can’t be young and drunk and tanning way harder than we should. Some of us are a bit older, and drunk, and tanned aplenty. For those of you trying to escape the madness of your second day at Basel, come to La Scala Brickell for a bit of the sabor that makes Miami an actually dope city to be in. Wilfrido Vargas and singer Ivan Ovalle will be there perfoming some live merengue. You can even enter our contest for free tickets, plus more info, by clicking here.

Tuskegee with Seth Troxler & The Martinez Brothers, Dec. 5th 10:00PM

Seth Troxler loves to take his shirt off. We wish the Martinez Brothers had the same affliction. That would great. Come check out these Bronx hotties turn the party out at Club Space. Yes, I said Club Space. You’re at Basel, don’t give me that look. You owe it to yourself to fist pump to some decent house music while you’re here. More info here.

Poplife & Bromance Records Presents The Deep End, Dec. 6th, 2:00 PM

Thankfully, someone decided a pool party was in order. Poplife is teaming up with Bromance Records boss Brodinski for a leisurely dip at the Mondrian South Beach Pool. Take a break from all that art (read booze) you’ve been consuming and take a minute to chill out with some cute people and sleazy, new music. More info here.

XYZA Art Basel Showcase, Dec. 6th 6:00 PM

We love local stuff at Remezcla. While everyone is trying to see and be seen, we’re more interesting in spending time with the home-grown movements. XYZA is a Miami, FL based collective focusing on expanding its local solo-electronic-artist music scene. They’ve got a rad roster of emerging artists, and are hosting a party at Sweat Records for Art Basel on December 6. Come out to chill with the XYZA crew with sets by Phantasman and Lautlos. More info here.

Fools Gold Day Off, Dec. 7th 2:00 PM

Home stretch! You’re almost totally worn out from all that art, you barely know what to do with yourself. Great idea: go crowd surfing on a bunch of crazy teenagers who loooove EDM. Fool’s Gold Records is making its final stop in Miami this year for Art Basel, and the line up is stacked. A-Trak, Danny Brown, DJ Mustard, the list goes on. Protip: Bring a pair of earplugs. More info here.

Bushwick Gone Basel, Dec. 6th 6:00 PM

What better way to convince yourself this whole weekend was a giant acid trip that didn’t really happen and you’ve been sitting at your apartment in Bushwick this whole time than ‘Bushwick Gone Basel’! A bunch of kids from Bushwick – including music by Cunt Mafia, RobotMoon Juice, and Pictureplane– will be partying at Brick House for a final closing out party on December 7. Time for this group show to end! More info here.
