Yesterday it was announced that Fox’s popular police sitcom, the Andy Samberg-starring Brooklyn 99, would be canceled after five seasons. Fans on Twitter were noticeably upset over the announcement, but also expressed frustration considering the show has done a lot towards diversifying its cast. Not only does it star African-American actor Terry Crews, the series also stars Cuban-American actress Melissa Fumero and Colombian-Bolivian-American actress Stephanie Beatriz. For many fans, the cancellation is even more difficult to bear considering Beatriz’s Rosa Diaz has been a groundbreaking character for LGBTQ representation.

We searched through Twitter to find only the best Brooklyn 99 cancellation tweets. Some were sad, some were angry, and many praised the series for giving us two badass Latina heroines to emulate.

UPDATE 5/14/2018: NBC picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for a sixth season saving it from cancellation.
