Just when you thought the obsession with last weekend’s royal wedding was winding down, Mexican heartthrob Gael García Bernal has delivered a tweet that proves he can take a joke and make it even better.
Soon after Prince Harry and former actress Meghan Markle, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, got married, the internet discovered the new royal reminded them of their favorite Mexican actor. If not the first, the most popular meme to emerge from this was a photo of the new couple followed by one of boxer Canelo Álvarez, whom people think looks like Prince Harry, and another of none other than Gael, who bears uncanny resemblance to Markle.
Rather than taking his astonishing likeness to the duchess seriously, García Bernal took to Twitter to embrace it. In his post he paired a photo of Markle and himself as the drag queen he played in Pedro Almodovar’s La mala educación, Zahara. He captioned it in equally funny fashion: “Here are my two sisters whom I haven’t seen in a long time. Yes, I was also surprised when I saw her.”

Since social media always delivers when it comes to finding absurd coincidences and milking them for laughs, here are some of the best posts about Gael’s long-lost sister or his alter ego depending on who you ask. Some were happy to have a Mexican connection to the royal family, while others used the platform to simply congratulate the newlyweds.
