At Remezcla, we feel there’s never a bad time to celebrate our favorite stars. And after honoring the enigmatic screen team that is Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal it’s time to separate the two and look at some individual moments from one half of the duo. Mexican born actor Gael García Bernal has cultivated a body of work with nearly every genre covered – and recently won a Golden Globe for his work on Amazon’s comedy series Mozart in the Jungle, making for the perfect combination of an incredibly talented award-winning actor and seriously thirst-inducing.

Here are 10 moments in Bernal’s body of work that will leave you reaching for some water. 💦

Gael Sings in 'Bad Education' (2004)

Bad Education is a twisted dark comedy that burrows itself into your head with its insanity. But what do you expect from the mind of Spanish director Pedro Almodovar? Bernal plays three different characters but none more intriguing than transgender nightclub singer Zahara. Gael’s crooning is already enough to set your heart a flutter, but he’s beyond attractive (and confident) in a gown and makeup. It’s a gender-bending moment of pure thirst.

Gael Plays the Violin in 'Mozart In the Jungle'

Mozart in the Jungle nabbed Bernal his Golden Globe. Created by Roman Coppola, Paul Weitz and Jason Schwartzman, the series blends whimsy with classical music. In this first season episode, entitled “You Go to My Head,” Rodrigo (played by Bernal) is offered $200,000 to play the violin, an instrument he’s refused to play in public. Much like the Bad Education clip, it’s pulse-pounding watching him play that violin. Feel free to imagine what else he can do with those hands!

Gael's "Taco" Commercial in 'Mozart in the Jungle'

In this tenth episode of Mozart in the Jungle’s 3rd season Rodrigo is enlisted as the spokesperson for a taco shell company. First off, the look is flawless! James Bond meets matador with a dash of guyliner for good measure. He dances. He makes taco shells look sexy as hell. I’ll take a dozen!

Gael Finally Gets a Kiss from His Intended in 'Mozart in the Jungle'

After three seasons of “will they or won’t they,” Bernal’s Rodrigo and Lola Kirke’s Hailey finally have a romantic moment. Kirke is the one who takes control as Rodrigo stammers and overthinks the whole thing. Who doesn’t love a guy whose sensitive, can play music and doesn’t want to screw up your friendship?

Gael Gets Cute About Pregnancy in 'Rosewater'

Director Jon Stewart tells the harrowing story of Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari (Bernal) in the emotionally affecting Rosewater. Before all the drama goes down Bernal gets a cute moment with his baby momma, talking to his soon-to-be born baby. If talking to a stomach doesn’t get your heart racing, just imagine what happens when he’s got a real baby to play with!

Gael Kisses Diego Luna in 'Y Tu Mamá Tambien'

Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron, along with his co-screenwriter and brother Carlos, penned the sexy and gritty coming-of-age story Y Tu Mamá Tambien in 2004. Bernal plays one of two friends, alongside Diego Luna, traveling with an older woman to a beach. Now we love Gael and Diego together, and what’s the ultimate expression of that than this steamy kiss between the two? There’s honestly no words that can express the pure heat on display. Watch it and sweat.

Gael and Diego's Dance in 'Y Tu Mamá Tambien'

It’s unfair to include more scenes from Y Tu Mamá Tambien considering all of them are fairly steamy, but I’d be remiss not to include this steamy threesome dance between Bernal, Luna and Maribel Verdu. After nearly an hour of these two dancing around having a threesome, their dance opens the door to them cementing that bond, permanently. The raw sexuality of this dance and what it leads up to might be too much for weaker constitutions.

Gael Gets Turned Down in 'The Motorcycle Diaries'

The Motorcycle Diaries is Brazilian director Walter Salles’ adaptation of Ernesto “Che” Guevara’s diary, and a road trip he took at the age of 23. Much like all of us, Guevara started out as a young man trying to get with girls in the backseat of a car, at least that’s what this scene implies. I know, it’s hard to believe anyone could turn down Gael Garcia Bernal, but Mia Maestro does her damnedest. The two fumbling in the backseat, with Bernal trying to get a kiss in there is saucy in how teasing it is. I mean, who could turn him down?

Gael Steams Up the Jungle in 'Ardor'

GIF by Itzel Alejandra Martinez for Remezcla

Argentine director Pablo Fendrik‘s Ardor is the story of a mysterious savior (played by Bernal) who saves a woman (Alice Braga) from mercenaries trying to steal her land. It’s not the best movie in the world but there’s a fair amount of Bernal shirtlessness, which is always worthwhile. There’s also a fairly steamy jungle sex scene between him and Braga. Considering the ordeal Braga’s character goes through, there’s nothing wrong with her getting down with Bernal in the jungle. It’s almost too perfect of a setting!

Gael's Smoldering Gaze in 'Neruda'

GIF by Itzel Alejandra Martinez for Remezcla

Chilean filmmaker Pablo Lorrain’s detective story Neruda is a look at the cat and mouse game between a detective (Bernal) and the famous poet Pablo Neruda in the ’40s. There’s no specific scene worth pointing out, just Bernal’s gaze. Take in that 1940s Clark Gable mustache and fedora! The tailored suit. Like the song says, “every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp-dressed man” and there’s none better looking than Bernal in this movie!
