While we love our tamales and eat them year round, something magical happens during the months of November and January: tamal season. At this point in time, many of us devour them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And yes, we’re sick of tamales at the end of the season, but it’s still one of the biggest highlights of our year. In honor of the season, here are 10 ways you know it’s tamal season:

1

Gringos start talking about pumpkin spice lattes.

2

You see signs everywhere.

3

You see lots of empty freezer space.

4

The grocery store stocks up on corn husks.

5

You see hella masa at home.

6

You abandon healthy eating.

7

You start looking for a supplier.

8

Or you start alerting people about your business.

9

No one can stop talking about tamales.

10

You acknowledge that tamal season is forever.
