Five Artists to Watch at Waco Music Festival This Saturday

Here at Remezcla, it’s festival season all year round, and we’ve got you covered when it comes to jotting down your lists of acts to catch. If you’re lucky enough to be in the Torreón, Coahuila vicinity this Saturday for Waco Music Festival, here are the five acts that you absolutely cannot miss for any reason whatsoever or risk fading into irrelevance forever and ever till the end of time. And so it goes:

Dënver

This one’s a no brainer, obviously. They’ve got top billing here, but that’s not the only reason you should see them. You should see them because Mariana Montenegro is really fucking hot in person. No wait, that’s not the reason you should see them either. You should see them because around this time last year they announced they’d be separating indefinitely, and they obviously didn’t, but who’s to say they won’t suddenly do it again? I think it’s best not to take any chances in these cases.

Animal Chuki

This is one of the hottest acts to come out of Lima’s burgeoning, electronic music underground scene –– along with Dengue Dengue Dengue, Deltraton and a few others. It’s all synths and masks and tropical beats and generally good vibes that’ll dupe you into believing the summer never ended. Who knows when we’ll catch them this far above the equator again, so I’d definitely pen this one into my festival schedule.

DJs Pareja

Did you even listen to this playlist, bro?

MC Peligro

So we’ve written extensively about this fair lady here. Remezcla has dubbed her the Mexbow Queen, and rightly so, because as far as I know, MC Peligro is the only one actually making Mexbow, so that pretty much gives her royalty status by default. Oh, and I hear her live show is pretty fucking awesome too. If you’re a fan of 90s-tinged aesthetics, beachy beats, and unabashed perreo, you owe it yourself to do as her song-cum-mantra says and: “¡Date, date, date grasa!” (That means “give yourself grease,” which evidently does not translate well to English).

Los Mekanikos

I actually played Waco last year, and I can assure you that tacha, tacha, tachas are not that hard to come by in Torr… oh, ehh, I probably shouldn’t be writing this here should I? Yeah, uhm, lay off the drugs kids, go to school and whatnot, cause you know, drugs are bad. Los Mekanikos however, are so, soooo good. Slot them in, fo sho.
