Los Angeles is no stranger to quality football; after all, the city has fielded professional soccer teams for over 50 years. From the Los Angeles Aztecs to the Los Angeles Skyhawks, and now the Galaxy, who have been one of MLS’ top clubs, with 5 MLS Cup victories. The City of Angels has always had a top team to root for, and now they might have two, as Los Angeles FC joins the fray next season. And with Mexico just a hop, skip, and a jump away, the rich culture and tradition of Mexican soccer has always been a part of Los Angeles (for proof, check out how many Mexican fans show up for El Tri matches at the Rose Bowl).

Of course, soccer doesn’t stop on the professional level in this city; almost anywhere you go, you can see and join in on a game. The competition is stiff, but you’ll never have to want for a quality game. Since we know LA is a huge metropolis to navigate looking for a pitch, we made it easy for you and put together a list of the 6 best places to play pickup soccer in Southern California’s premier city.

Vista Hermosa has one of the best views of Los Angeles that a soccer field can offer. Located just north of downtown LA, the skyline rests just outside the park and provides a rare scope of the city. Two full-sized turf fields sit next to each other and provide game action all day, although you’re going to want to work on your cardio before you head to Vista Hermosa; games are known to go for quite some time using the full pitch.

2. Urban Futsal LA at The Base LA

The 5v5 games are nothing to play with, either; you can get in on the action for just $10 a game on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday Nights. If you really enjoy it, you can join league play with your own team or as a free agent for a slightly higher price tag.

There are semi-professionals and beginners, women and men here, all on the same pitch. The park is lined with palm trees and creates a tranquil feel for a game. Weekday nights and early mornings may be the best times for pick up games as leagues often use the fields for games, and some children’s teams use it to practice during the day.
