Fernando Botero: Beauty in Volume
Latin American master painter Fernando Botero, who has a term for his very own style “Boterismo,” is having a show of his work on 5th avenue inside the Crown Building. Botero is well known for depicting his bourgeois subjects as cheerfully plump people in relevant art historical poses. Besides his paintings, this show includes some of Botero’s rare sculptures. Check out the work of this Colombian great on the 7th floor of the Crown Building. They’re pretty iconic.

Treasure Island
The Lower East Side PrintShop is having a group exhibition of prints from a few different local printmakers. Librarian and artist Felix Plaza, a keyholder at LES printshop for 15 years is one of the artists showing prints he makes of found objects. Juana Valdes is another exhibitor whose most current work deals with migration and post-colonial history of the Americas. Daniel Vasquez makes woodblock prints and is very inspired by tribal arts of Africa, Oceania, and Southeast Asia. Come see the varied mix of artists and styles at the reception this Wednesday, October 1st from 6 to 8pm. (Make sure to check the address below. It maybe be named Lower East Side Printshop, but it’s not in the LES.)

Federico Infante: The Space Between
There’s an opening reception this Thursday October 2nd from 6 to 8pm for Chilean artist Federico Infante at BDG gallery in Chelsea. His dreamy acrylics of usually female figures in hazy landscapes look like they’ve been taken from the throes of his subconscious and vague inklings of his waking life. Enjoy the opening this Thursday and RSVP to the Space Between.
