If you’re a faithful member of the Bardi Gang, chances are you’re well aware of Cardi B’s love of Dominican dembow. The Bronx-born rapper has been putting her non-Dominican fans onto the genre since her Love & Hip-Hop days, using her Instagram as a platform to introduce followers to urbano artists (and post videos of herself belting the lyrics to her favorite songs, of course). In August, she took to Twitter to profess her love for the genre. “Dembow is really underrated,” she wrote. “It needs to be more global, more mainstream! It just makes you wanna dance automatically!”

Fans will be happy to learn that the Invasion of Privacy star is taking her love of dembow a step further. On Tuesday, she teased an upcoming collab with dembow luminary El Alfa on Instagram, writing, “Very happy and excited for this [collab] i did with @elalfaeljefe 🇩🇴! SOON COME!”

El Alfa posted about the link-up on his own Instagram, writing, “She says she’s crazy about my music. What should I make, dembow or trap?” before joking about the comments he’s bound to deal with for wearing a Balenciaga purse over his shoulder.

In early September, El Alfa made history by being one of the few local urbano artists to sell out his hometown’s Palacio de los Deportes. After that show, he posted a momentous screenshot of an Instagram DM conversation with Cardi. “If we do something, the Dominican Republic will make you president,” he tells her. “I’m excited!” she answers back.

No news on whether this collab is Cardi’s next single, which she announced on Twitter on October 14. Stay tuned for more info.
