Video: Elastic Bond – "Pierdo el Control"

In the contexts of Latin music, going retro is, as a general rule, a pretty dangerous move. There’s way too much rotting cheese back there, and a lot of that kitsch stuff deserves to be left behind, collecting dust in the piles of 50cents LPs at the thrift store.

But there’re certain old school sounds of bygone eras that can totally justify a brief revival. And it doesn’t necessarily have to be ironic.

A couple of weeks ago Miami’s Elastic Bond surprised us with this excellent single that manages to make retro-cool even cooler and we gave away a funky remix of this same song. Now we can finally enjoy the video, shot at a vintage store with retro paraphernalia aplenty, and they didn’t even need to go all Instagram in the film aesthetics to make it look retro-cool. I don’t think Elastic Bond’s music has actually been pressed on a real vinyl LP, but if it was I’d be the first to purchase a copy. In the meantime, me conformo con un iTunes download.
