In Electrodomésticos’ new video, “Detrás del alma,” there’s a clash of binaries: old and new, black and white, real and fake, stale and sexual. Set in a baroque-era mansion, the band hands things off to the bizarro versions of themselves (which includes Miss Garrison’s singer/drummer, Francisca Straube) and makes the rounds of this deeply miserable soirée, where rail-thin women aren’t allowed to smile and the men are neither seen nor heard. It all comes to a close when the female partygoers find ecstatic refuge in the many co-ed arms of both Electrodomésticos versions.
Directed by Pablo Larraín, “Detrás del alma” is off the legendary Chilean trio’s fourth album, Se Caiga el Cielo, out yesterday on Hueso Records. Download the video’s track exclusively below.
