Countries such as Mexico, Chile and Argentina have seen indie scene explosions over the past few years, thanks to the dedication of a number of labels, promoters and artists within those respective countries. The tastemakers at Veltrac Music, with some assistance from Movistar, raises the profile of Peru’s music scene with a series of indie concerts called IndieGentes.

IndieGentes launches its fourth concert this Wednesday, Nov. 30th with a set by Norwegian acoustic duo Kings of Convenience in the country’s capital, Lima. It’s a great way to cap off a year of shows in the city that has brought the likes of Bomba Estereo, Chicha Libre and Systema Solar to Peruvian indie fanatics.

Pepe Velazquez, founder of Veltrac Music, is active on raising Peru’s profile in the music world and to attract more musicians to his country. Velazquez gave us a taste of the Peruvian music scene this past summer with a mix he created specifically for Remezcla, Chicha Morada Sounds. “Peru’s music scene will soon become a place where all types of independent artists will be able to play,” he said, “and develop their fan base in.”

The upcoming show will be the last for 2011. We’re sure it’ll be a great one and can’t wait to see what they have in store for 2012.
