Sounds like: If Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas where born twenty years later, in Mexico.
You should listen to Mood-Fu because… they really are doing some next-level shit. Welcome to the future!

They rap, but they don’t apply to the rigid parameters of purist hip-hop, at all. They make hard-hitting dance-floor oriented funky beats, but they can also calm down and deliver some soulful baby-making music.

The Mexican brothers Pedro and Hassel, collectively known as Mood-Fu, had been pushing the musical evolution forward for the last three or four years and creating some of the most innovative futuristic funk in Latin America. Under their pseudonym Bro’Ducers they worked in production, behind the curtain, providing beats and remixes for a variety of artist such as Niña Dioz, Capri, Belanova, Ceci Bastida, Natalia Lafourcade, Ximena Sariñana, etc. And as Mood-Fu, they dropped an EP in 2010 through Universal Records (Mexico) with the massive single “Pues Huevos” and all its remixes (available on ).

So why aren’t they huge yet? The answer to that question escapes my understanding. But my guess is that will get there soon. They’ve just announced a new album coming up this summer and “Alacrán” is the first single and video of it. It’s not an obvious choice for a single considering they’re mostly known for doing dancefloor-destroying music and this track is everything but. I guess they just like taking risks or they’re simply trying to show us what Mood-Fu are capable of, how they can reinvent themselves in many different shapes, without losing their core, keeping it real in their very own way and keeping it funky, no matter how slow the beat goes.
