Tecno brega is just what it sounds like: cheesy bedroom recorded, bootleg underground beauty. With the digital era rushing us further into niche, indie markets, the one thing we can look forward to is finding friends and more importantly fam, in all the right places. Banda UÓ is a queer collective of sensual geek-gays and their centerfold tranny, the best combination ever. Their sense of style, and apt-appropriation of mainstream hits like Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” (a personal favorite of mine, their cover that is). On this their most recent adventure, we find out Brazilian bombshells undertaking The Cure’s “Close to Me” vs. Two Door Cinema Club’s “Something Good Can Work.” Though it’s light-pop approach wasn’t as much of a hard-hitter as their Willow Smith rendition, I still gotta give these gay-goons bad props for pushing their homo-love video in the right direction. All I can say is these guys ‘n gal are making my life a lot easier, knowing that there’s happy and successful rainbow-glittered artists continually pushing the envelope.
