After writing multiple massive collaborations, Jasiel Nuñez is pushing his solo sound forward. On Aug. 8, the emerging música mexicana singer-songwriter released his highly-anticipated album’s third single, “Bien High,” premiering exclusively on Remezcla.

The Guadalajara, Mexico, native is known for his hard-hitting collaborations with música mexicana stars like “BIPOLAR” with Junior H and Peso Pluma, “LAGUNAS” with Peso Pluma, and “GTA” with Luis R Conriquez – all penned by the artist himself. With every collaboration, the singer has showcased his songwriting and singing chops, which he’ll demonstrate more of in his upcoming album scheduled to drop in the fall.

Although we’ve heard Nuñez on many tracks, he’s finally showing off more of his work as a soloist. With “Bien High,” he innovates his sound with a jazz-like piano to accompany his traditional requinto guitar and tololoche bass soundscape. What further makes the song special is that Nuñez uses his high-pitched croons in a rap-like flow, setting him apart from other colleagues. With all of these components in mind, the artist delivers a charming, new approach to a música mexicana bop with piano keys that go beyond your average regional Mexican sound.

“Expanding my sound is crucial because it’s all about evolution and connecting with a wider audience,” he told Remezcla via email about experimenting with different genres. “…It’s about breaking boundaries and showing that we can blend tradition with modernity. Every genre I explore adds a new layer to my artistry, and that diversity helps me stay authentic while continuously evolving.”

Not only does Nuñez add “a more cinematic and fantastical approach” to the track’s songwriting, but he also illustrates it in the visuals. The music video, directed by Gerardo Huerta and John Rodriguez, follows the singer’s five-part saga of delivering a sentimental letter. Through these scenes, we are immersed in his imagination, which shows him from being in a hazy library to playing his guitar with a desert backdrop.

“Visually, we drew inspiration from the world of theater, adding a casual yet artistic touch that mirrors the dramatic and expressive elements found in stage plays,” he shares about the music video. “This blend of storytelling and theatrical visuals creates a unique and engaging journey – a five-part saga that fully captures the essence and narrative we felt in the music.”

“Bien High” follows the rising artist’s singles “Made in Paris” and “0 Sentimientos.” With “Bien High,” Nuñez says his fans will get a taste of the album’s “broader vision” that blends genres and explores new creative directions.

“I’ve poured my heart into every piece, aiming to push boundaries while staying true to my roots,” he shares about his upcoming album. “There will be plenty of surprises, rich storytelling, and innovative sounds. I’m excited for fans to experience the full range of what this album has to offer.”
