Chile’s music scene has artists such as Ana Tijoux and Adrianigual to cover the hip-hop and indie pop scene, respectively. Now comes The Suicide Bitches to fulfill the scene’s stoner/punk rock quota. The Suicide Bitches, which consists of Alberto Hayden, Felipe Arriagada, Pablo Fontecilla, Gonzalo Hayden, and Javier Mansilla, hails from Santiago de Chile and recently released their debut LP, The Farm of The Suicide Bitches. The album features 11 old-school punk/garage/stoner tracks filled with the type of distorted guitar sounds one expects to hear inside a grimy dive bar with stools and half-empty beer bottles flying through the air every so often. A few hundred fans in the US were lucky enough to hear this live when The Suicide Bitches performed at the CBGB festival last month, representing one of the few Latin band of hundreds of performers. No word on how many barstools, beer bottles, or knives flew through the air that night.
