Here’s a fun and free idea for a Valentine’s Day date: A night at the Monarch Theatre for a DJ battle between DJ OHM, DJ Akshen, DJ Javin, Jeff Metcalf, Blaze, and DJ M2! The best of the bunch will advance to the next round and represent their city and country at Red Bull’s annual Thre3style World DJ Championship.
Each DJ will have 15 minutes to spin music in at least three genres and will be judged on creativity, song selection, stage presence, mixing talent, and crowd reaction. Numerous DJs across the country have already showed off their skills since the qualifiers began in late January, including our dude DJ Tony Tone, who was probably the only Latino in all of Eugene, OR this week. If he can pull it off, he’ll represent the USA at the Thre3style Championship finale in Tokyo, Japan.
The final three qualifiers will be held in Tampa, FL on Feb. 19th; Charlotte, NC on Feb, 20th; and New Orleans, LA on Feb. 21st.
Entry to the event is free before 11 p.m.
