Twin Shadow Will Perform Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ at a New Festival This Fall

Lift up your hearts to the Lord, because we’ve just got word that Dominican indie rock god Twin Shadow will be performing the entirety of Prince’s Purple Rain at a new festival this fall. The Meadows Music & Arts Festival will take over New York’s Citi Field on October 1 and 2, 2016, boasting headliners Kanye West, The Weeknd, and Chance the Rapper. On Facebook, George Lewis, Jr. announced that Twin Shadow will be doing a “special (one-time only) performance” of the classic 1984 album.

This announcement follows a stunning tribute from other members of the indie community – Neon Indian and Xenia Rubinos‘ slick, heartwarming cover of “Pop Life.” The Twin Shadow + Prince formula makes tons of sense; you can bet Prince would approve of George’s biker lewks and stadium-sized power ballads. Here’s hoping George Lewis brings his 80s glam A-game to Queens in honor of the Purple One himself.
