Dani Shivers is an interesting case of both contemporariness and nostalgia. She embodies the ‘90s angst but remains painfully current, so self aware in the nowness of the digital age. Her self-directed new video, “Body of One,” is an apt reminder of this, combining old digital techniques but doing them under the practice of the selfie. Self-surveillance is the 21st century way, something Shivers seems particularly keen on exploring. The song is also quite good, one I can imagine being remixed over and over.
