A Cuban girl, a Colombian guy, and a couple of Spaniards got abducted by an OVNI (that’s Spanish for UFO) and taken on an intergalactic road trip in search of the cosmic roots of cumbia, the beat that makes the whole universe dance. Then they landed in Madrid, of all places, and took it upon themselves to spread the cumbia gospel through Europe.
Here we have them doing just that, with their latest single, “La Bailonguita.” The video is unpretentious but so is the message (it’s all about dancing, nothing else) and that’s kind of the essence of cumbia, here, in Spain or in Mars, right?
