As we prepare for what’s sure to be an epic World Cup match between Brazil and Colombia, DJs Pequi and Mafe have teamed up from the respective countries to bring us a supermix uniting the two countries, regardless of who the winner will be.
Pequi was born in Brazil and is a current resident of France, hustling as a cultural producer and party starter in Toulouse as an expert of Brazilian and Latin American sounds. Mafe, born in Colombia and now also a resident of France, is part of DC’s Maracuyeah collective, repping new visions of underground Latin music.
Press play to be taken through an international, sportsmanship-friendly mix of Pixinguinha, Orquestra Guayacan, Palenke Soultribe, and more, ending with a track by Edu Krieger prompting us to be mindful of the socio-economic reality of Brazil, and critical of who walks away with the real benefits of the World Cup spectacle.
