El Freaky takes the Colombia-to-Jamaica sound system connection to new levels with a breezy summer riddim, “Summer Now,” featuring singjay Gyptian on vocals. Timed perfectly to coincide with the bass crew celebrating six years of mongrel existence, the track is a nod to dancehall culture that has a prominent home in Bogotá nightlife. Extending beyond the capital, the sound continues to evolve in homegrown movements on the Caribbean coast and in the vibrant musical community on the island of San Andrés with artists (and frequent El Freaky collaborators) like Jiggy Drama, Buxxi, and Hety & Zambo.

Young Guru – known best for production credits for the likes of Jay Z, Beyoncé, and Ludacris – hopped on mixing duties for the track, having already been inducted into the Freaky extended family after a recent performance in their home city for Jump Fest.

Keep an eye out for a video later this week for the winning anthem that’s already taking over radio airwaves in Colombia. If you’re lucky enough to be in the vicinity of Bogotá querida, don’t miss El Veraneo: Los 6 Años de El Freaky, their 12-hour long party at El Candelario with guests la Universidad de la Champeta, la MiniTK del Miedo, Happy Colors, DJ Mixticius, Kike El Criollo, and more.
