Empress Of Takes Us On the Road In “How Do You Do It,” Covers Katy Perry

Empress Of‘s debut album, Me, has become one of this year’s most highly-anticipated records. The Honduran songstress has been enjoying a moment of well-deserved hype, thanks to her two lead singles “Water Water” and “Kitty Kat,” as well as her incessant touring and energetic live shows. That energy is exactly what she highlights in the music video for her new single “How Do You Do It.”

A lot of artists have created behind-the-scenes music videos, but here, Lorely Rodríguez makes the format particularly endearing and approachable, letting all of us into her world on the road, showing things as intimate as images of her taking a shower and shaving her legs. The video – directed by Molly Hawkins and shot between California, Miami, and New York – features Empress Of and co. checking in and out of hotel rooms, traveling, sleeping, setting up gear, and more.

Check it out, and while you’re at it, also listen to Rodríguez’s stunning cover of Katy Perry’s huge hit “Hot N Cold,” which she made for Rookie Mag. She stripped the song of its pop grandiosity and transformed it into something that’s undeniably Empress Of – much more delicate and demure.

Me is out September 11 on Terrible/XL. Make sure you catch her live on her upcoming North American tour, which kicks off next September 13 at the Music Hall of Williamsburg, in Brooklyn. Dates below:
