Fausto Makes All The Right Decisions On New Track

Mexican band Fausto made all the right decisions on their latest single, “Veneno de ayer.” On paper, the song could have gone in a cliché direction and ended up sounding like another one in the bunch. But the result is actually quite compelling, from the bass synth sound through the arpeggiator—which goes in triplets creating a polyrhythm over the simple 4/4 beat—to that single kick that’s out of place, giving a slight feeling of instability. It’s a simple song in terms of elements and structure, but texturally it’s very rich, filling the whole space with synthetic sounds that sound fresh. All of these converge to make a fine synth-pop track. You did well, Fausto.
