From the depths of Soundcloud comes DLMJ, who we’re so very happy to have become acquainted with. The mysterious Oakland-based producer has dropped a looping, slow-rising edit of Llasa de Sela’s “El Pajaro,” from the late artist’s album Llorona. The edit, at some points almost entering into deep space, loungey territory, is grounded by a somber tribal beat that leave space for surges of the original’s sped-down vocals.
The remix (with under 200 plays!) feels in line with the eerie tribute remix variety, reminiscent of Sonora’s haunting, elegantly sped-up “Mercedes Sosa” that the San Antonio-based producer and Peligrosa crew member created to pay homage to the Violeta Parra classic.
