Even after four singles –“Tortura China,” “Carro Rápido,” “Todo Bien,” and “Mantecado de Coco”– Boricua rapper Álvaro Díaz isn’t ready to put his latest EP, San Juan Grand Prix, to rest. And why should he? It debuted on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Albums chart at no. 4, and it has five additional tracks that expand on the multi-layered Formula 1 concept he built the EP around.
One of the remaining songs, the fifth single to drop from the San Juan Grand Prix EP, is “Piso 13 (Mia Wallace),” a trap-n-b love letter to a woman who changed his life after a one-night stand. The reason he decided to name her after Uma Thurman’s character in Pulp Fiction is still uncertain, but in the Juanchi González-directed video, it’s none other than Audri Nix who conquers his heart. The visuals are glossy and elegant, sometimes glitched-out by digital filters. In the clip, the couple gets steamy in a luxury apartment, but with a tender intimacy that fits the song perfectly. As they make out, the couple eventually dissolves into Photoshop-like canvases.
