Dengue Dengue Dengue’s New Animated Video Will Leave You in a Tropical Neon Trance

One of the most interesting compilations released this year was A Guide To The Birdsong Of South America, in which artists from across the region blend birdcalls into their music. The Rhythm & Roots compilation seeks to raise awareness and funds for endangered bird species native to the continent.

Peru’s leading tropical bass exponents Dengue Dengue Dengue have dropped a video for their contribution to the collection, titled “Remolinera Real.” The animated clip, directed by Joery Santos Gomez, revels in colorful psychedelia. In it, a warrior heroically protects the endangered royal cinclodes bird from predators and environmental threats. Set in the jungle, the animation goes marvelously with the song’s reggae riddim, inspiring a sense that we’re witnessing a shamanistic ritual.

The release of the “Remolinera Real” video comes hand in hand with news that the crowdfunding project has exceeded its fundraising goals. The project is planning a follow up focused on saving birds from another region.
