Kali Uchis Shares Glossy Funk Collab With Vince Staples and Steve Lacy of The Internet

Kali Uchis has quietly teased new music on social media over the past few weeks, and after dropping a cover of El Chicano’s “Sabor a Mi” last month, Uchis has finally shared some new original material. We’re still reeling from 2015’s Por Vida EP, a nine-track collection of candy-coated retro R&B jams. On “Only Girl,” Uchis seems to take a more 2016 approach, largely due to the futuristic soul production of Kaytranada, who’s also gearing up for a new release this year.

While it’s not clear if this track will appear on Kali Uchis’ new project, the collab features the talents of rapper Vince Staples and Steve Lacy of The Internet. Over a sweeping, funk-driven bass line, Kali flexes on an unnamed love interest in her breathy y’all-better-recognize croon.

Fingers crossed for more new music from Kali Uchis soon.
