20 year-old rapper Kap G (aka George Ramirez) is on the rise. Right off his cameo in the recent hit Dope, the Mexican-American MC just dropped Real Migo Shit 3, a fiery mixtape flooded with Top 40 rap hooks straight out of Atlanta. Kap steers clear of some of the hokey Latino references on earlier works, focusing instead on massive production and sharp, hard-hitting bars on “I Be Up” and “F.I.U. (Fuck It Up).” The College Park-raised emcee fuses Migos flow triplets with Young Thug-style yelps, also tipping his hat to Future’s love of auto-tune. But he still manages to stand out as a Mexican-American rapper from Atlanta, peppering tracks like “Andelay” and his ode to recently-escaped drug kingpin “El Chapo” with plenty of “vatos” and “locos.” If the tape goes this hard, his upcoming debut EP El Southside will only bang even harder.
