Lois Presents Bedroom Pop Project With Laid Back Video for “Before You”

Lois Brea is known for his work as singer and guitarist in Trajano!, a Madrid-based lo-fi post-punk band, but in his solo project he steps away from that sound. The result? Catchy tape-recorded bedroom serenades.

His voice is half Nick Cave, half Alec Ounsworth from Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and his guitar work reminds me a little of The Cure – all of this encased in a sound that could be described as a Ritchie Valens revival.

Lois is now part of Ground Control Management, which makes him part of the cool kid Madrid gang, made up of Hinds, The Parrots and John Grvy.

His video debut “Before You” was actually made by Carlotta Cosials from Hinds while her band was touring in Oslo, Norway. In it, we see Lois roaming around and singing the lyrics to the camera, oozing charm as he does it.

Both the song and the video have a homemade and vintage feel that many fetishize, but in the end it’s his laid back attitude that makes you feel him.
