Ms Nina and King Jedet Serve Sparkly Perreo Femme Looks in “Reinas” Video

Reggaetonera Ms Nina and YouTube makeup guru/internet lioness King Jedet launched “Reinas” last month on the same day as Madrid’s World Pride weekend. The track’s inclusive lyrics were cause for celebration for the bois, grrls, and all those in between who have ever undergone the trials and tribulations of having a heteronormative internet hater drop a hateful comment on a Facebook photo of their outfit at last weekend’s perreo. “Hoy me levanté sintiendome triste/Pensando en todo aquello que dijiste/A ti que te importa que yo vista como quiera.”

The song’s bouncy chorus of resistance was practically begging for a video, and the duo have now delivered. In the clip, Nina and Jedet’s artistic friendship appears in a pink-heavy comic form, a concept created by Edrien Guillermo and directed by Nacho López. The video follows the two through bubble baths, dilettante breakfast antics, and a beauty contest in which they defend the song title’s message — and come out victorious and partying, of course. Perhaps the clip’s strongest showing is in the pageant contestants, who span the entire sparkling width of the femme universe.

May “Reinas” be your block-and-ignore soundtrack the next time a limited capacity troll comes your way, and add another nail in the coffin of that long-tired argument that reggaeton belongs to the basics.
