We’ve been following Nicky Jam and The Smith family’s newfound friendship since Will and Jaden were spotted in Colombia last month. The reggaeton star linked with the Smiths in Cartagena, where a video of the trio dancing to “X (Equis)” went viral (Smith was on location shooting an upcoming film called Gemini Man). Today we’ve got the result of their new link-up.
The current remix king – who recently showed out on a rework of A.CHAL’s “Love N Hennessy” featuring 2 Chainz, and the “Latin” remix of Post Malone’s “rockstar” – hopped on a bilingual version of Jaden’s single “Icon,” and it finds the reggaeton phoenix brilliantly flexing his rap muscles. Though the Puerto Rican vocalist made his return to the music industry after infusing urbano with his impressive balladry and harmony skills, it’s clear Nicky’s roots as a rapper never disappeared.
Nicky has been plotting an English-language album and recently hopped on the official FIFA World Cup anthem with Will Smith, so expect more mainstream industry moves from him soon.
