This Remix of No Light’s “Confesión” Is a Metallic Jungle-Bass Rollercoaster Ride

As the superlative Mutek.Mx festival unfolds its embrace around Mexico City, all eyes are once again on the city’s electronic scene. Local producer No Light (aka Alan Aguilar) had his Mutek turn last year when he arrived at the decks of the festival’s Boiler Room session, but fans of his grime-inflected beat downs will be happy to know he’s taking advantage of the moment to unleash a remix by UK producer Luru of “Confesión,” the first leak from his five-track Treason EP, premiering exclusively on Remezcla.

Luru’s ominous take on No Light’s “Confesión” leads in from a “Firestarter”-esque intro to become a guttural, glancing jungle-bass track. He’s stripped many of the 90s “woo” sounds that No Light buried in the original track, and taken out some of the metallic echoes to lend a more minimal feel to his version. All told, music that’ll build a wall around you on the dance floor in which to better lose your mind.

Let this serve as your heads up that the rest of the EP, a production from the darkly vibed Lissajous label, deserves a listen when it drops on October 31.
